The truth is…

People Change. Just like seasons. We have ups and downs. We are set in our ways…but we can change our minds. We can get better-but we can also get worse. We can get it right-but we’ll also get it wrong from time to time. We try to be on our best behavior-but we all have our days.

So all we can do is be gracious. Be generous with forgiveness. Realize people won’t always do what they’re currently doing. There is hope for improvement. There is hope for change-for growth.

If only there was more time in the day…

If only I could press pause and catch up…

I feel like I can’t do my best on everything I have to do…

I’ve been there(or am there) on all of these before. It’s important to come to grips with the truth. There is no more time in the day. Sorry-but it’s just not gonna happen. We’ve all got 24. Hopefully 8 to sleep, a few hours for meals, a few hours to get ready and then work. We’re lucky if we have any free time. There’s no more time in the day.

You can’t press pause and catch up. It’s not going to happen. You’ve got lots going on. Unfortunately things aren’t going to stop so you can catch up. You’ve got to manage what you’ve got while taking on new stuff.

You can’t do your best on everything. It’s impossible. To do your best requires lots of time, work and effort. You can’t split that work amongst lots of projects. Only a few…but the more you split it the worse the work on each will be.

So what’s our choice? What can we do?

Cut things.

Say no.

We can’t add more time…only subtract things we’re doing. You’ve got to decide what’s really important. What matters to you? Cut things out…get rid of the unimportant so you can focus on the important.

You can’t press pause, so you’ve got to pick what’s most important and do that. Forget the rest…not forever…just for now. Pick what’s most important and do that. Then each day add one thing from your list of to do’s that you’ve got to catch up on. When you’ve got extra time crank away on that list. But keep looking ahead. Keep working.

You can’t do your best on everything- so cut as much as you can. Learn to work faster and more efficiently. You’ll have to spread your best around so don’t spread it too thin. Do the best you can with what you have and with what you have to do-that’s really your best. Not a far off fantasy idea of “your best”.

So be honest with yourself from here on out. Do less-better. Do what’s important. Focus on what makes a difference-cut the rest!

It’s time to restart the blog and site. It’s been a while since I’ve written here. Most of my writing/blogging now can be found over on Loops in Worship . With a full time job I’ve struggled to keep up content there on the site as well as this site, and a unfortunate hacking incident caused me to delete this site, but I’ve decided it’s time to come back. I’ll be making tweaks and updating the site over the next few weeks, but it’s time to start now.

I figured it would be great to start the site back off with this post. It’s a great place/way to start. I talk to a lot of people that have tons of great ideas and have a ton of potential but never do anything with it. A lot of us are waiting for the right moment to start. We’re waiting till everything is just right to begin. If we wait till everything is perfect.. we’ll never start.

Start NOW with what you have. Don’t wait till everything is just right. It’s more important to get your ideas out there then it is for them to be perfect. You don’t have to create crap but if you never release anything you’re never actually creating anything. So before you worry about not releasing your best…just release something. You’ll always look back and wish you could of done more and done better but at least you did something.

So here I am starting out before I’m ready. Starting out before conditions are perfect. But what’s important is that I’m starting.

What’s keeping you from starting what you need to start? What’s keeping you from releasing what you need to release? It’s You. Just start where you are. There’s always time to make things better later. Now is the time to start. Now is the time do what you know you HAVE to do.
